Despite having been passionately drawing and painting on and off for most of my life, I am not particularly skilled at creating my own game graphics. Still, although I work with people far more talented than myself nowadays, there is one visual project that I'm proud to include here.

Abstergo Industries - Rewrap

Fall 2013
Visual Techniques Project
Role: Modelling, Texturing, Lighting, Animation

The goal of the 'Rewrap' project is for students to learn about modelling, lighting and textures by recreating the style and looks of an existing game.

I chose the environment of 'Abstergo Industries' as it is presented in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II. An important part of the project is to subvert the viewer's expectation at some point and drastically divert from the established visual style. My own take on that was to have the 'player' enter the animus machine only to find themselves 'playing' Tetris.

I used 3Ds Max for the project, with After Effects to animate the UI at the end.

Hint: A YouTube search for 'zhdk rewrap' reveals dozens of videos created for the same purpose by students over the years, using a variety of different games to replicate.
